Edit your profile and change your password


1. Overview

The My Profile dialog lets you view your account details, choose what you see when you log on, change your password and more.

From the main menu, click Profile to view and edit your user profile settings. Using the My Profile dialog, you can:

  • View read-only information about your account in Dundas BI.
  • View information concerning which user groups you belong to.
  • Change the default view that appears when you log in.
  • Tell Dundas BI to use touch events.
  • View and manage your notifications.
  • View your export history and download export files.
  • Clear personalization settings.
  • View and manage your tokens.
  • Change your Dundas BI password.
  • Find out what version of Dundas BI you are using.

2. View account information

The My Profile dialog shows you the following read-only items of information related to your account in Dundas BI:

  • Name – This is your username (i.e., the name you use to log in).
  • Display Name – Usually your real name which shows up in different places in the user interface.
  • Email – The email address associated with your account.
  • Seat Kind – The type of license seat assigned to your account:
    • Standard user – You can create views such as dashboards, reports, scorecards, and slideshows.
    • Power user – You can create data connectors, hierarchies, time dimensions, metric sets, and views.
    • Developer – You can do everything a power user can do, plus create data cubes and cube perspectives.
  • Culture – The name of the culture (e.g., en-US) associated with your account, if any.
  • Time Zone – The time zone for the account.
  • Group Membership – A list of groups that you belong to.

3. Set the default view

The Default View option lets you decide what to show whenever you log in. By default, this option is set to Home, which means show the home screen.

Alternatively, you can set the default view to Other, and then select a specific view (dashboard, report, or scorecard) to display instead.

4. Use touch events

The Use Touch Events checkbox allows you to force Dundas BI to use (or not use) touch events. For example, you can enable this option if you have a device that supports both touch and click events (such as a touchscreen laptop).

5. Recycle bin

If you deleted an item by accident, or changed your mind, click Recycle bin to find the list of recently-deleted files and folders. You can either restore or permanently delete each item.

Recycled items will be permanently deleted automatically after a set amount of time, which is configurable by your administrator.

6. Manage notifications

Notifications offer a way to send email reminders or alerts to users on a periodic schedule or under certain conditions. Click Notifications to view a list of your notifications. This list provides you with the options to enable/disable, run, edit, and delete notifications without having to locate them in the related report or dashboard.

7. Manage exports

Click Exports to view the list of export files you have generated from the Share menu of a dashboard or other view.

Click Download next to an export to download the file or expand the Queued Exports section to see the progress of an export and for the ability to cancel long-running exports.

8. Clear personalization

Click Clear personalization to clear customizations you've made such as filtering and dockable window placement in this instance of Dundas BI. See the article Using personalization for details on personalization.

9. Manage tokens

Tokens are used when filtering to choose options besides specific data source values. You can create your own tokens to access from the menu displayed next to filters. Click Tokens in your profile to manage the tokens associated with your account.

10. Change your password

To change your password in Dundas BI, go to the My Profile dialog, scroll down if needed, and then click Change password.

Type your old password, type your new password twice, and then click Submit (checkmark).

11. Product version and other information

Scroll all the way down to find the More about this product link. Click to view information about the instance of Dundas BI that you are using in a new browser window or tab. Administrator users will see also see detailed version and license information.
