Dynamic Comparisons of Measures in a Dashboard

Did you know that you can empower users to do dynamic comparisons of various measures in a dashboard? As long as you have version 2.5 of Dundas BI or later, the ‘dynamic element’ filter allows users to substitute one measure for another on a dashboard.

In this example, the user is comparing a fictional trend of ‘CNOOC Limited’ to ‘Bank of America’

But now they are interested in seeing how ‘CNOOC Limited’ compares to another company. To do this, all they have to do is choose the other company that they want to see in the list.

Here are the results after selecting a second company to compare against.

This type of functionality can be accomplished without any code and just requires the use of the above mentioned filter.
