Dundas BI Versioning

Contents[Hide]

1. Overview

This article explains the Dundas BI versioning convention and describes how license files work with different versions.

2. Versions

All versions of Dundas BI are specified as four numbers (A, B, C and D) with the following format:

A.B.C.D

Where:

A.B - Represents the Major version of Dundas BI

C - Represents the Minor version of Dundas BI

D - Represents the Revision version of Dundas BI.

2.1. Major Versions

A major release generally contains a wide range of new features in addition to all defect fixes addressed since the previous major release. Installing or upgrading to a major version release requires a new license file. If you have a valid support subscription your new license is free (just generate the new license file from the Support Site or contact your account manager).

Examples: version 2.0, version 2.5, version 2.6

2.2. Minor Versions

A minor release generally includes all defect fixes since the last minor release, and potentially a small number of new features.

Examples: version 2.0.2, version 2.5.1

Minor releases do not require a new license file. So your license file will continue to work for all minor version updates of a particular release. For example:

A version 2.5 license will work for all Dundas BI 2.5.x releases.
A version 2.5.1 license will work for the Dundas BI 2.5.2 release.

2.3. Revision Versions

A major or minor release may appear with a Revision number attached. A revision version is a replacement version for a major/minor release which generally incorporates a small number of high priority defect fixes. Upgrading to a revision release does not require a new license file.

Example: version 2.6.0 Rev 2
