Middle Subset

The Middle Subset function returns a specified number of the middle values in an input data series. For example, the function can be used to return the 3 middle values in a set of input values.

1. Syntax

2. Input

The Middle Subset function requires the following input:

  • d0 - Input data values - The set of data values for which the Middle Subset is calculated.
  • Alignment (Optional) - A hierarchy placeholder to be used as the alignment axis. If an alignment hierarchy is not indicated, the subset is applied to the whole result.

3. Parameters

The Middle Subset function requires the following parameters.

  • s0 - Middle Subset Count - The number of values to be returned by the function. Default value is 1.

When you use the MIDDLE function within a metric set, it can only return a single value (s0 must be 1). In order to return the middle 3 values, for example, you must use a formula visualization. This applies to the other subset functions as well.

4. Output

The Middle Subset function generates the following output:

  • Middle Subset - The Middle Subset result set.
